Who is Eligible for a Habitat Home? Families must be a resident of Union County for at least 12 months prior to application and must meet the following: NEED: Present housing must be unsafe, over-crowded, or sub-standard (roof leaks, plumbing problems, etc.). ABILITY TO PAY: Families must have a permanent, sufficient income from reliable source(s), and the ability to make monthly payments. Perfect credit is not necessary; however, an established and consistent record of payments is required. WILLINGNESS TO PARTNER: Families must be able and willing to put in the required “partnership hours” per family as “sweat equity”, and be willing to attend family partner classes which will teach the basic concepts of homeownership.
